- Suminagashi - 'flowing ink', enso, haiku, and Genuine Gold Leaf - The Haiga/Haiku Series - 'meigetsu ya ike wo megurite yomosugara' - night moon  around the pond  all night long Haiku by Bashoo, the historical Grand Master of Japanese poetry, 1644 - 1694 - suminagashi, ink brush calligraphy in old henteigana style script, enso, fineart printing, genuine Gold Leaf application, by peter v quenter - Ensō is a symbol of infinity, symbol of simplicity yet profundity, empty with no-thing, yet also containing the potential of the all-encompassing existence… the coming and going of all that is contained in the visible and invisible Universe. Togetherness. It sometimes forms a moon, sometimes a rice cake. Usually the circle is begun near the bottom of the left-hand side and the ink is thickest there. Although the shape is the simplest imaginable, each circle is different. Some are almost perfectly round and others are quite lopsided. The shading and variation of wet- and dryness of the ink-brush stroke also greatly influence the effect of the character. In your practice of mindfulness in Oriental ink brush calligraphy it is good to practice enso at the beginning of each of your sessions. see more at https://crimsonbamboo.zenfolio.com/   https://crimsonbamboo03d8.myportfolio.com
